Last day in Lima, Peru

After Becca and I finished up with our two days of exploring Machu Picchu and the little town below the ruins (Aguas Calientes), we took the train back to Ollantaytambo and then hopped into a cab back to Cusco. After bopping around Cusco for another day, we went back to Lima for our last day in Peru.

While in Lima, I was entranced by the colorful buses. I can't totally explain why but I was super into them. Machu Picchu, Peru

It's now been one year since Becca and I trekked around Peru together. I still often look at the photos of our trip when I'm wasting time on my iPhone on the train or when traveling. The first day we spent exploring the site with our new friend + guide and the second day we spent climbing Huayna Picchu to see the site from far far above... like in the clouds kind of above.

This was the definitive highlight of the whole trip; the entire reason we wanted to see Peru in the first place -- as is the case with most travelers. While we were happily blown away by the rest of Peru that we came across during our trip, nothing was quite as amazing as seeing Machu Picchu for the first time in person. It is the single most stunning and magical spot I've ever been to...

Like I said, stunning...

The Hudson Valley

On a sunny Saturday in late October, my buddy Beth and I rented a car and drove out of the city and up to the Hudson Valley for the day. We picked apples, roamed around pumpkin patches, brunched + antiqued in Cold Spring, and sat alongside the Hudson watching the boats go by. It was a most lurvely day with one of my most lurvely friends...
